24 Hours in the Old Pebbles
Every Word! February 26th, 2008So the ArcVelo Corporate Team – aka Three Men and a Little Lady – may have ruffled some feathers at 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo…sorry, it was an honest mistake. The team – composed of myself (aka Little Lady), Kyle, Jason (a first time mtb racer and Kyle’s little bro), and Dan (the team sponsor) – took 5th place in the 4-men’s (male, man, hombre, what have you) open category. Well, as some of you may know, I don’t quite cut it as a man (except when I dressed up like Kyle for Halloween). Anyways, it doesn’t specifically say anywhere in the race rules that you can’t have a woman race in the men’s category – although it would be less acceptable to have a man race on a 4-woman’s team, right? I don’t know; I don’t have all the answers, but all I have to say is that when we stepped on that podium, I think some people were not too happy…I wouldn’t be happy to get chicked either.
Well, whatever, I hope we didn’t ruffle any feathers too badly, and next year we’ll register in a 5-person co-ed team. Nonetheless, the race was a blast. Kyle whipped out some super fast laps, while our man Dan won the run, and Jason – who was doing his first mountain bike race ever – kicked some ass. Here ye go with an essay in pictures. Also, props to everyone who did that race! You know who you are, and you rock.

I think “Arc-huelo” is the proper pronunciation.

I was just thinking how Kyle used to wake me up every morning with his thunderfoot/cereal slurping/overtraining poopies. Haha. ohhh That Kyle.

Chicked! Nice. Yes, your team almost “chicked” us. Awesome race. I think the quote that came out of our campsite was. “Why the heck did we just race for 24 Hours to have it come down to a 1 lap XC race?”
