Appointment with Dr. Knife
Every Word! October 18th, 2008Tuesday is the big day – surgery day! I’ve been doing lots of base training for my upcoming knee surgery. How do you base train for surgery? Well, you hang out on the couch a lot. You need to be adequately prepared to spend time on the couch, so I have been on an intensive couch training program for the last four weeks. I feel that I am really peaking in my training right now, so it’s a good thing the big day is almost here.
I have been doing lots of important things on the couch. For example, I finally finished the last episode of the last season of Deadwood…disappointing. I watched Starship Troopers again…fabulous. I did some homework…well, lots of homework. I learned all about the magical properties of prickly pear nectar. I really think this couch time has made be a better person overall.
Right now I am diversifying my couch training, and I am hanging out on my parents’ couch in Flagstaff. Today is my dad’s 2nd 30th birthday or his 4th 15th birthday or his 6th 10th birthday…depends how you look at things. Happy Birthday, Dad!
Kyle and my dad are out mountain biking, and I’m not jealous or anything… In fact, I’m so not jealous because it’s in the low 70’s, the leaves are changing colors, it’s not too windy, and the trails are probably nice and tacky and perfect. That sounds like it really sucks, and I much prefer the couch.
I hope to have some gnarly video to post of Dr. Knife cutting my knee open and repairing my ligaments. Tune in for some fun drug-induced blog posting next week!
Until then, ride on!
