Sweetwater Trails
Every Word! February 1st, 2009Pima County done good. The new Sweetwater Trail system in Tucson is awesome! I went out for a great ride this morning with Hightower, Black Cloud aka Flying Hebrew, the Stauff, and Chloe Monster. We shredded – or at least, I attempted to shred – a good part of the system today. The trails are great, and they aren’t kitty litter like the trails out at Starr Pass. Check out the map below.

My knee is pretty good for mountain biking, although I am doing some RICE – minus the I part – tonight. The Stauff was kind enough to cruise slow with me, while the other three showed off their pre – VOS and 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo skilz.

We cruised out there on the road instead of taking the gasline, since standing up on the pedals hurts…a lot.

Unfortunately, Hightower flatted.

And later broke his seatpost. Stauff, the cameraman, was not there for that part, unfortunately.
In the end, I was pretty happy to be riding my mountain bike, happy to be riding with friends, just plain happy to be riding. I did nearly 15 hours this week, with the assistance of Ross.
Lastly, I would like to thank Jon for the conversation of the day…
Melanie: Sorry I’m slow, everyone. I lost my skills over the last few months.
Jon: Well, at least you had some skills.
Melanie: Yea, skills are like love. It’s better to have had them and lost them, than to never have had them at all.

Not funny? Ok, sorry.
Until next time, Happy Trails.
Thanks to the Stauff for the pictures.
PS – The beer tastes good. The homebrew, that is.

That last pic must have been when I flexed my bicep. Nothing like pumping up a 29er tire with a mini pump to define those muscles.
